GD Conducts Geohazard Assessment for Environmentally Critical and Tourism-Oriented Areas in ZdS

A Team composed of Geologists from the Geosciences Division of MGB-IX recently completed the updating of the 1:10,000 scale Rain-Induced Landslide and Flood Susceptibility Map for Tigbao Municipality in Zamboanga del Sur.
Covering eighteen (18) barangays with one hundred twenty-eight (128) puroks and their respective sitios that were clustered and divided into Northwestern Cluster, Southeastern Cluster, and Southwestern Cluster, this activity aims to appraise the geohazard susceptibility ratings of the former geohazard map produced from the previous assessment.

MGB-IX Launches "Un Dia de Alegria Para Con Juana"

The Regional Gender and Development Technical Working Group (RGAD-TWG) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-IX launched the "Un Dia de Alegria Para Con Juana", in celebration of the International Women's Day.
This activity was conceptualized to honor the women of MGB-IX personifying an empowered woman especially amidst the global crisis and challenges under the New Normal. Every "Juana" of MGB-IX was gifted with a Gift Certificate that she can use either to treat herself or her family. Meanwhile, three female Utility Workers were also rewarded with grocery items for the hardwork they do in order to keep MGB-IX Office premises a clean and healthy working environment especially for women.
MGB-IX Kicks-Off Women's Month Celebration during World Wildlife Day Event

As a kick-off to the Women's Month Celebration, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB IX) joined Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IX in the celebration of the World Wildlife Day with the theme: “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration”, and in line with the Isabela City People’s Day, dubbed as "Pasangen Sin Katabangan Caravan" to raise awareness to Isabeleños regarding flora and fauna restoration and preservation last March 1 to 3 of 2022. Participants were also oriented about Responsible Mining and Geohazards, two of the Top 10 Priority Programs of the Department, while highlighting the role of women in the promotion of responsible mining and disaster preparedness and awareness.
Posters and other information materials/collaterals about Responsible Mining and Geohazards were also distributed among the participants to reinforce information.
