Now on its 10th year, the Dia de las Mujeres, Zamboanga City’s way of commemorating the country’s annual observance of Women’s Month and International Women’s Day, had once again been successful and well-participated by different sectors in the city. Led by no less than the City Mayor herself, Hon. Mayor Ma Isabelle “Beng” Climaco, this year’s Dia de las Mjueres highlighted and recognized the strength and passion of our local women who are doing mostly what they call as a “man’s job”, such as being police officers, fire fighters, traffic enforcers and those serving at the Philippine Navy and Air Force. Mayor Beng, who champions women empowerment and transformation said that she believes that “women can make change happen” giving emphasis to this year’s theme “We Make Change Work for Women” an appeal for women to fulfill their calling as catalysts of change in their personal and professional lives.
