The Regional Gender and Development Technical Working Group (RGAD-TWG IX) joined in the last leg of the Vulnerability Risk Assessment- Information, Education and Campaign (VRA-IEC) activity for 2020 from October 22-28, 2020.
Headed by its RGAD-TWG Chair, Chief Geologist Jessica N. Lucero and assisted by the RGA-TWG Alternate, Ms. Emma Deverala, the VRA-IEC Team conducted said activity in the Municipalities of Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte and Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay Province, respectively and distributed IEC materials thereafter as well.
The main objective of the said VRA-IEC is to capacitate Local Government Unit (LGU) planners to read and understand Risk Exposure Maps in the formulation of their risk reduction and management plans. And to ensure that there is gender mainstreaming of MGB programs, the RGAD-TWG have presented some key points and highlights for the LGU's consideration, the active involvement of women before, during and after any disaster, regardless if it is natural or man-made.
Meantime, in observance of the safety health protocols, number of participants were limited to a maximum of 10 and enjoined them to strictly observe the wearing of facemasks and faceshields for the duration of activity.
