MGBEA National Officers and Chapter Presidents

Despite the exaggerated security issues in Zamboanga City, delegates to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Employee’s Continuing Welfare Seminar Series III and MGB Employee’s Association (MGBEA) 17th National Convention, arrived in the City and excitedly gathered for the said event from March 10-13, 2020 at the LM Metro Hotel in Tetuan, Zamboanga City.

MGBEA-Chapter Executive Board 9 (MGBEA-CEB9) headed by its Chapter President who is also a member of the National Council as VP for Mindanao, Ms. Emma Rodelie M. Deverala, together with other members of the MGBEA-CEB9, welcomed sixty-nine (69) delegates coming from MGB Central and 14 Regional Offices who represented their respective Chapters.  Discussions relative to the implementation of DOST’s RA No. 8439 or the "Magna Carta for Scientists, Engineers, Researchers and other S & T Personnel in the Government”, ratification of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) for 2020-2023, among others, were raised during the 3-day seminar. During the second day, presentation on the history of the MGBEA, retirement benefits from the GSIS and Multi-Purpose 2 (MP2) and other investment opportunities at the Pag-Ibig Fund were discussed among the participants. Atty. Jasper Alberto H. Lascano, MGB-XI Regional Director, gave a lecture about Leadership, which gave the participants an introspect of their individual capacitities or abilities as leaders.

To showcase what the Asia’s Latin City can offer, guests and participants were treated to a quick city tour in Zamboanga City’s famous landmarks such as the Paseo del Mar, Fort Pilar, Museum, City Hall, Abong-Abong Freedom Park, Butterfly Garden and throughout Pasonanca Park where the regional office of MGB-IX is located.  Their tour would not be complete without dropping by the Canelar Barter Trade where they bought imported products which were mostly coming from Malaysia. Earlier that morning, they joined MGB-IX employees in their coastal clean-up activity at the famous pink island, the Great Sta. Cruz Island and where treated to local dishes and seafood feast for lunch.
