Notwithstanding the power outage due to damaged transformer and generator set, employees of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office No. IX spearheaded by OIC-Regional Director Hernani Abdon, have enthusiastically continued with its effort to promote the “Bayanihan” spirit as a support to Republic Act No. 11469, otherwise known as the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act” to fight the adverse effects brought about by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
On April 11, 2020, the MGB-IX, through the MGB 9 Employee’s Multi-Purpose Cooperative-9 (MGB-9 EMPC), demonstrated the meaning of compassion during this Season of Lent while in observance of Black Saturday. A total of ten (10) recipients who are drivers, utility workers and security guards of MGB-IX received basic grocery items consist of 10 kilos of rice, canned goods, noodles, anti-bacterial and detergent soaps, sugar and condiments. Moreover, food packs which consisted of assorted fruits, coffee, biscuits, bread, cup noodles and bottled juices were also distributed to the front liners assigned to six (6) selected checkpoints stationed in three different barangays to include Barangay Pasonanca where the MGB regional office is located.
MGB-9 EMPC apportioned Thirteen Thousand Pesos (Php 13,000.00) out from the budget allocation under the Community Development Fund for the purchase of the said grocery items and food packs.
