Engr. Hernani G. Abdon, OIC-Regional Director of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-IX (MGB-IX), presided the first General Staff Meeting for CY 2021 held at the Regional Office in Pasonanca, Zamboanga City, on January 7, 2021.

After the welcome message of RD Abdon, Mr. Joemark Bondad, MGB-IX Planning Officer, presented a comprehensive report re the performance status of the region for CY 2020 accomplishments, that indicated a promising and very satisfactory rating amidst the challenges posed by Covid-19 global pandemic. He also presented the work plan and corresponding indicators for CY 2021 to guide both technical and administrative support personnel in accomplishing this year’s set targets.

Other discussion include human resource (HR) matters as presented by HR Officer, Napoleon M. Dulatre, PhD, and other administrative matters as facilitated by OIC-Finance and Administrative Division (FAD), Atty. Michelle G. Morte, CPA. Chief Geologist, Ms. Jessica N. Lucero of the Geosciences Division (GSD) and OIC-Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development (MSESDD), Mr. Ramon M. Alforte, also shared their respective division’s concerns, respectively. Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employee’s Association (MGBEA) Chapter President, Ms. Emma Rodelie M. Deverala, also gave updates re the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) for 2020-2023. The impending transfer of the regional office to Pagadian City was one of the highlights of discussion among the employees and the management.

In his closing message, RD Abdon said, “Let us continue to work together as ONE MGB9 in order to provide quality services to all our clienteles/stakeholders “, as he enjoined everyone present to always strive to give the best performance anchored towards DENR’s core values and MGB-IX’s Quality Management System.

To ensure that safety protocol measures were observed, a blended meeting was also utilized using Zoom app, so that personnel on fieldwork, under work from home arrangement and reporting in DENR Pagadian Office, can attend and participate.
