Mines and Geosciences Bureau IX OIC Regional Director (RD) Hernani G. Abdon attended the 2022 New Year’s Call and DENR Expanded Executive Committee (ExeCom) Conference held in hybrid format last January 17, 2022 at DENR Regional Office in Pagadian City.

During the New Year’s Call, Secretary Roy A. Cimatu presented DENR’s significant accomplishments in 2021 and gave his direction for the priority programs and projects for implementation in 2022. Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary for Field Operations-Mindanao, Joan A. Lagunda presented the 2021 Accomplishment of the Mindanao Clustered-Regions during the Expanded Execom.

Secretary Cimatu lauded the efforts of the different regional offices in the provision of manpower, logistical, and financial support to Odette-stricken communities and has instructed to prepare the necessary reports for submission to the President. As for MGB-IX, RD Abdon highlighted the support and involvement of MGB-IX in joining the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) Team organized by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) IX Office through the Office of the Civil Defense, to augment the team of experts conducting the said PDNA in CARAGA Region till end of January 2022. “We will ensure the timely submission of the report on this activity as per the instruction of our DENR Secretary,” RD Abdon had added.
Other presentations during the Expanded Execom were the Financial Management System Audit Results by Director Gavin D. Edjawan, Safeguarding our Protected Areas by Undersecretary Edilberto D. Leonardo, and Task Force Build Back Better (BBB) instructions particularly for damages caused by Typhoon Odette in December 2021 by Undersecretary Analiza Rebuelta-Teh.
DENR Key Officials from the Central Office attended the conference at the DENR Social Hall, Quezon City while other key officials, including those from DENR Zamboanga Peninsula, attended online.
