Senior Geologist Ollyn Rey T. Balignot joins the Team organized by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) IX, through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) IX for the conduct of the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) for CARAGA Region from January 5 to 31, 2021, with a send-off ceremony held yesterday.
The PDNA is composed of personnel from the following RDRRMC IX member-agencies and stakeholders: National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) IX; Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) IX; Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) IX; Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) IX; Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) IX; Department of Agriculture (DA) IX; Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) IX; Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) IX; Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA) IX; Center for Disaster Preparedness(CDP); Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Zamboanga del Sur; and, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) of Salug and Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte, whose main objective is to augment the PDNA as a result of the Typhoon "Odette".
Said PDNA is a "multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary structured approach for assessing disaster impacts and prioritizing recovery and reconstruction needs undertaken by government agencies in collaboration with international development partners and the private sector".
The Provinces of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands were among the areas severely hit and devastated by the said Typhoon.
