The 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO) organized a webinar on environmental laws in observance of the Environment Month Celebration on June 1, 2021.
As a response to the invitation-letter, Engr. Ventrick Ceazar Albano, Science Research Specialist II, was directed to represent the Office to serve as resource person. Engr. Albano gave a virtual presentation on pertinent laws, rules and regulations affecting mining such as RA 7942, RA 7076 and MGB MC No. 2018-01. Dubbed as "Republic Act No. 7942 and Republic Act No. 7076: Mining Laws of the Philippines and their Continuing Relevance", Engr. Albano emphasized the role of the law enforcement agencies and the Local Government Units (LGU) in the implementation and enforcement of the mining laws and their respective implementing rules and regulations. He also further discussed some accomplishments of the DENR and MGB in the implementation of the ENR laws where the participation and support of the Philippine National Police and the LGU played a major role on the said accomplishments. Those activities include the implementation of the Cease-and-Desist Orders (CDO) against the illegal mining operators, and the apprehension of illegal sand and gravel transporters in the adjacent province in Zamboanga Sibugay.
Other environmental laws were also presented such as Basic Forestry Laws, Rules and Regulations by DENR-IX ARD for Technical Services Ronald D. Gadot; Salient Features of RA 9147 by the OIC of PAMBCS, Brendelyn P Madarang; and the Salient Provisions of RA 9175, by Renato Ordiz, HEA of the Office of the ARD DENR.
