"All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy", is a popular proverb which means that it is not good to work all the time and that people may get bored if they don't get some time off from work. This is one of the objectives why an annual Sportsfest or physical fitness is encouraged in every organization.

This year, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Office IX, along with line bureaus of the region, the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB-IX) and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-IX) had its annual Sportsfest held at the DENR Regional Office in Pagadian City in time for the environment month celebration.

Inspired by Pinoy games, this year's sportsfest organizing committee infused some fun-filled Pinoy games on top of the usual ball games and other sports to spice up the activities.  MGB-IX, EMB-IX and the CENRO Zamboanga City composed the Zamboanga Team and have emerged champions in some of the sports events such as the Women's Basketball Team.

The three-day event have once again fostered and strengthened ties and camaraderie amongst the DENR-IX family.

ISO journey
In view of the quest to standardize systems of operations, MGB-IX is pursuing for an ISO certification in  order to provide better and quality service to our clientele. Recognizing that the need to capacitate and prepare MGB IX personnel to embark on this journey will be intensive, MGB-IX contracted the services of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), a government institution known to provide quality training and consulting services needed to enhance government systems in order to promote good governnance.
