Violence against women (VAW) and girls is considered not just a major public health problem but also a serious abuse of human rights revealing extreme gender discrimination mostly affecting women and girls because of their inferior position in our society.

By virtue of Republic Act 10398 or the Act declaring November 25 of every year as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of VAWC, the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW supports the government’s objective of protecting the rights of women and girls. Every year, the 18-day campaign is being observed by government agencies as they are directed to raise consciousness on the problem of violence and the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls.
