Besides the annual MGB activities every November, another significant event that the MGB is observing is its anniversary, which is celebrated every 29th of the month. This year, the MGB is celebrating its 121st year anniversary, and regional offices are enjoined to undertake their own activities. As it has already been a tradition, the MGB-IX celebrated the anniversary with the Holy Eucharist of the Mass, as a way of thanksgiving. Rev. Fr. Marsh Villagracia once again officiated the mass followed by a simple salo-salo over lunch.

This year’s Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference is observing its 66th year of advocating and advancing Responsible Mining dubbed as “66 Years of Responsible Mining. Culture. Care. Change.” organized by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA). MGB-IX personnel, some were first timers to the Summer Capital City in the Philippines and to the Conference, joined in the 4-day activities lined-up for the said event from November 19-22, 2019.

The recent launching of the #MineResponsibility campaign last November 8, 2019 was set to help fuel the Bureau and the entire mining industry to ensure that we mean to drive the industry further anchored on the principles of sustainable development through showcasing best mining practices. This project, which is the brainchild of DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu and DENR Undersecretary for Climate Change and Mining Concerns Atty. Analiza Rubuelta-Teh, sought to recreate a clearer and more factual image of the mining industry in the Philippines.
