One of the significant efforts of the Department in instilling the value of stewardship and build a movement towards environmental protection and conservation among people. And the best way to start nurturing these values is among the youth, whose ideologies and outlook in life is not yet corrupted by selfish gain or interest. Which is why the Dalaw-Turo, as a form of Information, Education and Communication strategy have long been adopted by the region because of its encouraging effect to the youth.
Dalaw-Turo is a half-day activity conducted in selected elementary or high schools featuring interactive and fun-filled sessions about the environment and a way of informing and educating them about the Department and its corresponding programs and projects. This has also become an initial activity prior to the formation of the Youth for the Environment Organization (YES-O), a DepEd Order to all primary and secondary schools in both private and public, in partnership with the DENR.

With few observations and opportunities for improvement, MGB-IX positively passed the recently concluded ISO 9001:2015 first year audit surveillance last January 7, 2019.
Auditor Ms. Merce Flores of SOCOTEC Certification Phils., Inc. led the first surveillance of MGB-IXs compliance against the Quality Management System required of the international standard. Core processes of the Mine Management Division and some support processes from the Administrative Division, Internal Audit and the Top Management were subjected to the audit and proved to have satisfactorily met the standards.
SOCOTEC Certification Phils., Inc. is the certifying body of MGB-IX against ISO 9001:2015 standard, replacing AJA Registrars Inc. which the former acquired in 2018.
