The month of December may not be a relaxing time yet as the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-IX (MGB-IX) undertook few more major activities before the year end had capped off. These included the participation to an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign, Year-End Assessment and a GAD activity to culminate the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (eVAW).

Upon the invitation of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) IX in partnership with the Regional Public Affairs Office of DENR-IX, MGB-IX had participated in the Environmental Youth Summit held in Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur last December 11, 2018. Information Officer Emma Deverala and personnel from the Geosciences Division, Glenford Gamelo, served as resource persons as they each gave their presentation about responsible mining through sustainable development and geohazard awareness/preparedness respectively, to senior high school students coming from selected schools in Margosatubig.

As an annual commemoration of MGB's anniversary every 28th day of November, MGB-IX had celebrated the 120th Year with a thanksgiving mass officiated by our all-time favorite officiating priest, Rev. Fr. Marsh Villagracia. Employees gathered around to celebrate the Holy Eucharist to offer thanksgiving and prayer petitions. The inspiring homily of Fr. Villagracia have once again posted in us a challenge to continuously do our responsibilities as public servants to serve well our stakeholders while ensuring that we do not compromise other equally important aspects in our lives, such as our health, family and our relations to others especially our co-workers whom we interact with eight hours a day from Mondays to Fridays.

After the mass, Fr. Villagracia was requested to once again bless the entire office to include our guest house in the hope to ward off negative vibes and encourage positivity and harmonious relationship with one another.  A simple salo-salo followed after the blessing.
