MGB Regional Offices from the MSESDD, MMD and Office of the RD recently attended an Orientation Workshop for technical personnel on the newly issued policies, MGB Memorandum Circular (MC) Nos. 2018-01 and 2018-02, respectively, from July 31 to August 4, 2018 at Hotel Rembrandth in Quezon City. Headed by the different RDs of the region, Division Chiefs, Section Chiefs and Legal Officers were oriented with MC No. 2018-01, or the Guidelines in the Conduct of Apprehension, Seizure, Confiscation and Disposition Illegally Sourced Minerals/Mineral Products and By-Products, Tools, Conveyances and Equipment Used; and MC No. 2018-02, or the Guidelines for Compliance Monitoring and Rating/Scorecard of Mining Permits/Contracts to acquaint and capacitate the said personnel in the effective implementation of the said policies.

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" is a famour proverb referring to the need of giving people some time off to relax from work and get re-energized. True enough, the annual DENR Physical Fitness and Sports Development have been incorporated in the regular activities of the Department. This year, the regional office of DENR-IX held its annual Sportfest in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte. Hosted by PENRO Zamboanga del Norte led by PENR Officer Dr. Salahuddin Kaing, DENR-IX employees all throughout the region were treated to a three-day fun-filled sports events culminated with a singing talent competition and Search for DENR-IX Mr. Gay from July 16-18, 2018 at the Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU).

Pursuant to Article XVIII of the Amended Constitution and By-Laws of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees’ Association (MGBEA), an election for the new set of officers for 2018-2020 MGBEA Chapter Executive Board for Region IX, following the end of the two-year term of the 2016-2018 MGBEA-CE
B IX, was held on June 18, 2018 at the MGB Regional Office IX, Pasonanca, Zamboanga City.
The designated Commission on Election (COMELEC), after announcing the mechanics for the said election during the regular Monday convocation held on the same day, started the election at 9:00 o’clock in the morning by distributing official ballots among the members, where they can fill out the names of their chosen nominee/s. As instructed, the said ballots shall then be sealed and dropped at the designated ballot box. Members were informed that voting will be closed at exactly 3 o’clock in the afternoon and that counting shall immediately follow.
