The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Committee of the RDRRMC-IX chaired by the Mr. Martin A. Wee, the Regional Director of DOST-IX, convened selected RDRRMC-IX members last April 15, 2019 (Monday) held at Ateneo de Zamboanga University – GeoSAFER. The agenda of the meeting was the orientation of evaluators utilizing the ALeRTO Early Warning System Project Evaluation Tool. The activity aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the system for localized weather disturbances and to monitor how the protocol works in the identified municipalities.
Hence, the said attendees served as EVALUATORS during the conduct of the “ALeRTO Early Warning System Project Evaluation Tool” held last April 22 – 24, 2019 at the following pilot areas: Zamboanga del Norte – Labason (Kipit River); Salug (Salug River); Siocon (Siocon River); Sindangan (Piao & Sindangan River); Manuel Roxas (Tangian River); Zamboanga Sibugay – Kabasalan (Kabasalan River); Siay, Imelda, Buug, Diplahan, Payao (Sibuguey River); and Zamboanga City – Manicahan and Tumaga River. The said Evaluators were grouped into 2. Group 1, headed by Ms. Thelma E. Diego of DOST-IX evaluated the pilot areas under to Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga City while Group 2, headed by Mr. Ferdinand L. Bernal of OCD-IX evaluated the pilot areas under to Zamboanga del Norte.
Participants of each municipalities were the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer (LDRRMO), Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO), and selected Punong Barangay.
