RD Abdon Leads MGB-IX to a Promising 2021

Engr. Hernani G. Abdon, OIC-Regional Director of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-IX (MGB-IX), presided the first General Staff Meeting for CY 2021 held at the Regional Office in Pasonanca, Zamboanga City, on January 7, 2021.
After the welcome message of RD Abdon, Mr. Joemark Bondad, MGB-IX Planning Officer, presented a comprehensive report re the performance status of the region for CY 2020 accomplishments, that indicated a promising and very satisfactory rating amidst the challenges posed by Covid-19 global pandemic. He also presented the work plan and corresponding indicators for CY 2021 to guide both technical and administrative support personnel in accomplishing this year’s set targets.
Abdon Talks About Mining Laws and Related Policies Over Magic 103.1 Fm

In the interest of providing appropriate information to our stakeholders on the policies of the government on mining, OIC, Regional Director Hernani Abdon indulged a radio interview over Magic 103.1 Fm radio station in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay on January 13, 2021.
This activity was upon the invitation of the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) to give MGB-IX the opportunity to clarify issues and concerns on mining laws and related policies specifically within the province. Accompanied by Engr. Ramil Mundo, OIC -Mine Management Division and Engr. Nathaniel Domail, MGB designated embedded personnel in the province, RD Abdon gave an overview on Republic Act (RA) No. 7942, “Philippine Mining Act of 1995, RA No. 7076, “People’s Small-Scale Mining Act of 1991” and the participation/role of the local government units and indigenous people in the implementation of the laws within the province.

2020 National Climate Change Consciousness Week

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1667, s. 2008, November 19 to 25 of every year is declared as the National Climate Change Consciousness Week, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-IX conducted a coastal cleanup on November 20, 2020 along RT Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City and a tree planting activity in Abong-Abong, Pasonanca, Zamboanga City on November 24, 2020, respectively.
